SECTIONS OF THE CHATTANOOGA BAR ASSOCIATION

BANKRUPTCY SECTION -  Hal North, Chair 

This section monitors activity of the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and studies recommendations for improvements of bankruptcy law and court procedures. It also acts as a liaison between the Bankruptcy Courts and the Chattanooga Bar Association.


CRIMINAL JUSTICE SECTION - 

The Criminal Justice Section is open to all lawyers whose practice involves the criminal justice system. The Section’s mission is to educate Section members and the general public about the criminal justice system and its purpose; foster productive communication among Section members, members of the judiciary, and criminal justice agencies; and seek improvement in the operation of the criminal justice system.


FAMILY LAW SECTION- Barry Gold, Chair

The Family Law Section is open to any attorney practicing family law in Chancery, Circuit, or Juvenile Court. This Section was formed to address issues which confront the practitioner in these Courts and to have monthly meetings which focus on issues of relevance to the family law practitioner and provide a forum for discussion of changes in this area of the law.


HEALTH CARE SECTION 

The purpose of this section is to increase interest in the field of health law by members of the Association, non-members of the Association, and lay-persons; and to serve and educate its members in the field of health law.


LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT SECTION - 

The Labor & Employment Section shall meet quarterly to discuss current and important Labor and Employment issues. At each meeting, a designated speaker is asked to prepare a half hour lecture on a topic germane to the group. This usually includes areas related to wage-hour, ERISA, EEO or Labor laws. Attendance is open to anyone interested and is geared toward those attorneys practicing in these areas.


REAL ESTATE SECTION

The Real Estate Section was formed to address issues which confront the practitioner in this area of law. The meetings focus on issues of relevance to the real estate practitioner and provide a forum for discussion of changes in this area of the law.


SMALL FIRMS SECTION 

The purpose of the Small Firm Section is to create a network of members who either practice by themselves or in small firms to share information, pool resources and to identify specific management and marketing techniques designed for small firms and individual practices.


TRUST AND ESTATE SECTION - Randy van Dolson, Chair

The Trust and Estate Section was formed to address issues which confront the practitioner in this area of law. The meetings focus on issues of relevance to the trust and estate practitioner and provide a forum for discussion of changes in this area of the law.
